Wildflower Backyard Elopement in Madison WI
Words can’t perfectly express how much we adored this backyard elopement near Madison, Wisconsin. Joellyn and Erik choose to have just an officiant and us as their witnesses. To keep their elopement as intimate as possible. It is always an honor we don’t take lightly. I tear up every time we do this for a couple.
Their ceremony was in their family’s backyard, a beautiful field of wildflowers and prairie grass! We helped the couple have a unique first-look that allowed them to walk down the aisle together! It was so sweet to watch Joellyn walk to Erik and his smile grow as she got closer. She beamed as she tapped him on the arm to turn around!
After the ceremony, we met their families for a cookout in their backyard! On their way up the driveway, the family met them cheering! As they got out of the car, they were met with hugs from all!

What memory stands out most from your Backyard Elopement?
Exchanging vows in a flowering prairie on a perfect summer day. I’m so happy that we did a private ceremony because I really remember the moment! There weren’t any nerves to get in the way or make it a blur.
What was the greatest challenge in planning your wedding?
It was surprisingly difficult to figure out how to do a private ceremony and who would be our witnesses. We wanted it to be just the two of us, so that’s why I’m so happy that it worked out for Christine & Justin to sign as our witnesses!
What advice do you have for couples planning their Backyard Elopement?
Communicate and find out what each other wants the day to look like, and stick to that original gut plan. It’s super easy to get sidetracked when there are so many decisions to make, but remembering what you talked about and agreed upon helps keep you on track.
How do you feel about your decision to go with Natural Intuition Photography? The best part of working with us?
We feel great! We love that the two of you work so well together and have a calming presence. I didn’t feel weird or rushed, or tired at any point! It was a lot of fun!
