Roof Wedding at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in Downtown Madison WI and The Lageret in Stoughton WI
Kelly and Matt started out their beautiful wedding day with a first look at the Top of the Park at the Park Hotel in Downtown Madison WI. It was one of the best and most intimate first looks we’ve photographed. Kelly giggly walked up to her almost husband and tapped him on the shoulder. This made Matt turn around fast and beam from ear to ear when he saw Kelly. Overcome with emotion they both had joyous years filling their eyes.
The quick walk the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art where they met with the rest of their wedding party and family before walking down the aisle. Their rooftop ceremony was filled with so many personal touches. Kelly’s brother marrying them and her other brother walked her down the aisle. Matt’s brothers were his groomsman while Kelly’s closest friends and sisters were by her side.
After the ceremony one of Kelly and Matt’s favorite memories happened:
We think one of the best memories from our wedding day was the unplanned receiving line. Having the opportunity to greet and hug friends and family we had just seen or haven’t been able to visit with in years!
Their reception was at one of my favorite venues – that we have been DYING to photograph at! The Lageret in Stoughton Wisconsin is a beautiful venue that used to be a Tabacco Warehouse before the amazing Jamae got her hands on it! The Lageret was made even more beautiful with help with Wood Violet Events and her team! The beautiful tables were set with floral by Flora by Jamae – the same rad florist that did the bougets that I about died when I saw them!
Kelly & Matt’s biggest challenge when planning their wedding was:
From the minute he asked me to marry him, we could not find the best time to get married with our crazy schedules. I also had a hard time giving up some control! It was hard, but my planner was able to go with the flow of her detailed oriented client’s many list-filled emails. 🙂
The BEST part of planning their wedding was:
We loved being able to make the day our perfect day (we did not need to settle or compromise on our vision) and being able to find a way to ask and include all of our love ones in what ended up being the best day!
How they would describe their day:
Well I started the day very anxious and nauseated while at the salon. But the minute I saw all my favorite people putting on their dresses, and finally being in mine. I had a sigh of relief and happiness and settled into a permanent smile. I absolutely loved being able to walk up to this spiffy, handsome man I love and tap him on the shoulder. We both agree that our moment together before the ceremony gave us a time to really feel all of the love we have for each other. Before we showed it off to everyone else!
Matt was sentimental and gooey with feelings and I was being silly during the ceremony. But we both just reveled in seeing all the people that cared for us and showed up to support us. One of our family members later said, “a lot of people love you guys”. We can’t be more thankful for this. From the minute my brother announced us married, we had a blast! From hanging out with our crazy friends and families on the rooftop. The champagne filled trolley ride with goofy pictures, to the sentimental speeches and priceless dance moves. We were moved to where words can’t express the gratitude and love we felt for each other and our guests.
Advice for future couples planning their wedding day!?
You can never have too many lists. Stay organized and keep making time for each other that doesn’t include wedding talk and planning! For us it was sushi Wednesdays and Game of Thrones with friends!
