Family Spring Bloom Mini’s at the UW Arboretum in Madison WI

Spring Family Photography in Madison, Wisconsin

Spring family photography at the UW Arboretum is always a treat, but this session was extra special. Even though the day held onto that classic chilly spring bite, the families brought enough warmth to make up for it. Between the blossoms just starting to peek open and the little moments of pure joy in every frame, this shoot was a reminder. It highlighted how magical family memories can be.

Finding Little Pockets of Beauty

The blossoms were shy that day, hesitant to fully greet us. But even with spring taking its time, we discovered these gorgeous little pockets of blooming beauty. It was like playing a hide-and-seek game with nature, where we were rewarded every time we spotted a burst of petals. Capturing spring family photography in settings like the Arboretum, with its winding paths and budding trees, was perfect. It allowed these two incredible families to shine.

Meet the Families

Can we talk about the star of the show first? A little guy rocking the coolest jean jacket and somehow managing to give off starfish vibes (yes, starfish!). He couldn’t keep his tiny arms down, and I swear, he looked ready to give the world the biggest hug. His contagious personality and cuteness reminded me why I love capturing such moments in spring family photography sessions.

And then, there was the tiniest queen of the day—an adorable little girl discovering the freedom of walking. The second she realized she could put one foot in front of the other, there was no stopping her. She was unstoppable, darting from spot to spot with the biggest grin. Her parents held her hands every step of the way.

Capturing The Laughs, Love & Chaos

The connection between the families and how it radiated in every shot made this session extra memorable. Whether it was kids giggling as they tried to “help” with posing or parents laughing at the unpredictability of it all, the authenticity was a chef’s kiss. It was the kind of session where no one worried too much about the brisk air or perfectly posed moments. This ensured the spring family photography session was both relaxed and fun.

We skipped stones (not really—we just acted like we could), twirled in grassy pockets under the tender shade of trees, and breathed in the freshness of spring hovering just around the corner.
