Epic Locations for your Engagement Session in Madison Wisconsin
If you’re looking for a beautiful and unique location for your engagement session, Madison has no shortage of epic spots. From natural areas with stunning views to charming downtown settings, here are some of our favorite locations to get hitched in the Badger state capital.
1. Wisconsin State Capital Building
A staple for most Madisonians when they get engaged. With so many beautiful angles and areas, you can use them during any kind of weather. The inside is gorgeous, with pockets of light and quaint inlets. Outside you have beautiful stairs, pillars, and a lawn filled with beautiful trees!
3. Parking Garages Downtown Madison
A modern take on the cityscape. Parking garages are some of my favorite places to photograph anyone! They can be moody and romantic to extremely funfilled. I love finding new pockets of areas and views!
3. Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park
A hidden gem that will sure give you beautiful photos any of the year! Are you up for a bit of walking to find some boardwalks surrounded by tall grasses? Or run with your love on a rad dirt road!? This place is for you!
4. Downtown Madison
Love the city of Madison and want to capture it in all its glory? Walk around downtown, get a beer or coffee, head down some epic alleyways and capture the downtown from so many rad angles!
5. State Stree Downtown Madison
Another iconic area in downtown Madison, and not just for shopping and eating! You can get a rad angle of the Capitol Building. Along with some stunning light-filled images!
6. Memorial Union Terrace
Get some rad sunset photos along with a beer! Win-Win! Beautiful any time of year! If you want the rad chairs, you must go before it closes, usually May – October. Also, want the best photos with NO people!? Go during sunrise and you’ll have the place to yourselves!

7. Allen Centential Gardens
These beautiful gardens for the plant lover! Located right in the heart of the UW Campus! The UW does require a photo permit and permission to photograph on the grounds. Get it here!
8. Olin Park
Another beautiful location for photos in Madison! With stunning lake views with the Madison Skyline! Along, with a few docks for you to choose from! Not only that but STUNNING open areas surrounded by trees! Even more beautiful during sunrise!
9. Pope Farms Conservancy
This stunning location is acres of land with some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen! Another rad thing is that the sun sets a little later due to the hills!
10. Gilbrator Rock State Natural Area
Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area has some amazing locations with a stunning overlook, with just a short hike!
11. Devils Lake State Park
One of our favorite locations! Devils Lake has it all! Epic bluff views, the stunning lake, beach & hop in a boat and get even more views! Go up and get epic views, or stay near the lake! We will encourage you to get in the water during the warmer months!
12. Pewits Nest
A hidden gem that is to die for! Take a walk down the creek to escape the busy summer swimmers! Or join the swimmers near the mini waterfall! Then jump in the car and head to Devils Lake for a killer Sunset!
