Jasmine recalls the details vividly. “We met working the night shift at UPS in Stevens Point. I started in February 2016, and Nathan had already been there for a few years. At first, I didn’t talk to him much; he was super shy, and everyone called him ‘Turtle.’ (I knew he really liked turtles!) By the fall of that year, I had a major crush on him, so I started sticking extra stickers on the back of his shirt just to get closer to him.”
Persistence paid off, and after a hilarious turtle sandwich meme started their conversation on Facebook, things blossomed. A few weeks of flirty messages led to their first date at Schmeeckle Nature Park on March 11, 2017, marking the official start of their love story, long before their Capitol elopement.
Nathan remembers the moment Jasmine first spoke to him. “My first impression was that she was beautiful and a pleasure to be around. When she started talking to me, I asked myself if I was dreaming.”
What Keeps Their Love Strong
Five years later, Jasmine and Nathan still radiate the kind of energy that makes you believe in love all over again, just like on their Capitol elopement day.
Jasmine adores Nathan’s humor, patience, and calm demeanor. “His quips have me rolling on the floor laughing, and he has this amazing ability to calm me down when my anxiety flares up. He’s caring, selfless, and so loving to his family.”
Nathan, on the other hand, treasures Jasmine’s laugh and her “weird and silly side.” Together, they’ve built a relationship that thrives on support, laughter, and shared passions like Pokémon and Runescape.
Choosing an Intimate Celebration
When asked why they opted for an elopement over a traditional wedding, Jasmine and Nathan didn’t hesitate. “We wanted something intimate and private. It was important for us to focus on just us without the pressure of large crowds or family expectations.” Their choice of a Capitol elopement perfectly reflected this desire.
This quieter approach allowed them to immerse themselves in the moment without distractions or stress, truly.
The Anticipation Built Around the Capitol
The most exciting part of the day for Jasmine and Nathan? Seeing each other fully dressed and ready for the ceremony at the Capitol was a key moment. “We can’t wait for the moment it finally kicks in that we’re married!” they said. (We’re not crying, you are.)
Their day began downtown, where we met them at their hotel. We strolled over to the Capitol, snapping some relaxed portraits along the way, and then met their officiant. The ceremony was truly intimate, held in a private room with just the couple, the officiant, and us as the witnesses. The best part? We got to sign their marriage license! It’s always a true honor to do this!
After a ceremony filled with joy and tender moments, we explored the Capitol grounds. Jasmine and Nathan shared custom cookies, followed by a peaceful walk into the sunset. They wrapped up their special day with a cozy dinner to celebrate their new chapter together with their Capitol elopement as the highlight.
